AWHS Charter Penned by Mgib and accepted by the AWHS. I- Aim of the Society. The aim of AWHS is to preserve and restore valuable buildings in AW which participate in the enjoyment of the place and the soul of the community throughout it's history. Concerned buildings are those built by persons who are no more AW citizens denoted here after as "NAC" ("not a citizen"). AWHS modestly intends to try to be an expression of the whole community and to act in its name. Therefore, it is the duty of AWHS members, aware of their responsibilities toward the community, - to take care their opinions, choices and acts are the result of points of view from enough of them so to be as representative as possible. - to report to the public their activities. - to check their aims and the way they are materialized are in accordance with the public opinion on its main lines, as far as a public opinion maybe be identified on a specific point. II- Members and President. Members of the AWHS are AW citizens with a minimum of experience so to be aware of uses in the community and AW buildings. The President is the official liaison with COF, to other groups and associations representing or working for the community and internal medias for the community. The President acts in name of the Society from the expression of its members. The President may delegate missions to members under his/her responsibility. III- Missions. a) Preservation. AWHS identifies the buildings and sites to be preserved from deletion, acquisition or vandalism and negotiates with COF pertaining to practical issues. As far as possible, AWHS preserves the credit of the builder bringing to the attention of visitors by relevant means, NAC name, date, citizen number and any useful information including the fact the building is under AWHS protection. b) Restoration. AWHS will submit to COF its plans of restoration projects and must be mandated by COF to bring said plans to completion. Restoration includes in addition to preservation rules: - Identification of obvious trash or vandalism which damages the site and were not obviously a part the original owners intention. Deletion being submitted to PeaceKeepers. - Filling uncovered land or cracks with the appropriate material so to prevent future vandalism. - Replacing missing pieces or fixing misplacements as far as they are obvious flaws from what can be understood in the builder's intention and style. - Any change is done carefully and in doubt the no change option is prefered. -no added improvements are done to "embellish" the place. AWHS only preserves and does not build. -Records are kept of restoration: date, participating members, picture of the site before restoration, choice made in main alternatives and any other events allowing to comments or explanations in regards of responsibility of the Society. Restoration is always done by a pair of members, and with the advice of a larger group of members when needed.
